86th District Sobriety Court

Grand Traverse Area

The 86th District Court has operated a Sobriety Court program since December 2001, serving residents of Grand Traverse, Leelanau and Antrim counties who have been convicted of OWI 2d. Judge Michael J. Haley started the program and has enjoyed presiding over its 100-120 participants, having graduated nearly 200. This Sobriety Court has a staff of two Case Managers who chose to include home visits as part of their intensive supervision. The program enjoys the support and cooperation of  Munson Medical Center, Catholic Human Services, Addiction Treatment Services and Goodwill Industries who together provide a continuum of care for each participant, home supervision, transition housing, assessment and testing.  Our motto is carried on the nalgene bottles given to the new Phase II participants: Life is Good.
