Youth Therapeutic Justice Court

In 2002, the 13th Circuit Court Family Division began the process to design and implement our Youth Therapeutic Justice Court.  Our Court serves post adjudicated youth between the ages of 12 and 17, who are Grand Traverse County residents. Since we began, we have served 45 youth.  We are honored that 18 youth completed the program and graduated.  Our Court is privileged to partner with a great group of providers including Catholic Human Services, Mr. Michael Sullivan, Mr. William Fowle, and Ms. Jana Rockne. Our Therapeutic Justice Court recognizes the effort of attorney Ronald Schuknect, who provided our community with undying commitment to the formation of our therapeutic justice court.

In 2004, the 13th Circuit Court Family Division began the process to design and implement our Family Therapeutic Justice Court.  Our court serves parents involved in abuse / neglect litigation.  We implemented the court in spring 2005.  Presently, we have seven families participating.  We are honored that our Therapeutic Justice Court is operational for our Grand Traverse County residents.  This therapeutic justice court would not have been possible without the tireless effort of our partner, Michigan Department of Human Services, in particular Mr. Gary Aschim.
